Your photos are the lifeblood of your auction. Without them you
can expect considerably fewer bids and page views. For your pictures to be seen
on your auction ad, they be uploaded to a server somewhere on the internet.
There
are several options available. Free hosting services are fine, but you can expect to get
what you pay for. There are usually limitations and you have little or no recourse
if things go wrong. Paid services tend to be a bit more dependable (though not always)
and usually charge a fixed amount per picture uploaded.
The third option, if you have
your own website, is to use your web hosting service and serve the photos off of your
own domain. This is by far the least expensive option and the bandwidth even for a large number
of pictures is not likely to be significant. It may even be cost effective for you to
open an account with an inexpensive hosting company such as
HostRocket and use the account for storing and serving your photos. They have plans available for as little as $5 month
and domain registration wil cost less than $10 per year. The obvious benefit here is that not only will you have photo hosting, but
you will have plenty of space to build a web site or informational pages about your product.
It is the best way to go if you prefer to budget your auction expenses and keep control of your own business.
